Success Stories
Behind every statistic is a young person with a story. These are just a few of the lives changed by our village.
From Chronic Absence to Honor Roll
Marcus was missing 3-4 days of school each week when he first came to our after-school program. His mom worked two jobs and couldn't always get him to school on time. Through our transportation support, tutoring, and mentorship, Marcus went from D's and F's to honor roll in just one year. Now in 8th grade, he's applying to selective enrollment high schools.
Key Outcomes:
- 95% school attendance
- GPA improved from 1.2 to 3.8
- Reading at grade level
“The tutors believed in me when I didn't believe in myself.”
— Marcus, Age 14
First in Family to Attend College
Jasmine participated in our programs from 6th grade through high school graduation. Through college prep support, SAT tutoring, and application assistance, she was accepted to three universities with full scholarships. She's now a sophomore studying social work, planning to return to serve her community.
Key Outcomes:
- Full scholarship to state university
- 3.6 college GPA
- Leading campus mentorship program
“Every Child's Village showed me college was possible. Now I'm proof that dreams come true.”
— Jasmine, Age 20
Finding Purpose Through Mentorship
DeShawn was struggling with anger issues and had been suspended twice. His mentor, Mr. Johnson, met with him weekly for two years. Through their relationship and our leadership program, DeShawn discovered his passion for helping others. He's now a peer mentor himself, working with younger kids facing similar challenges.
Key Outcomes:
- Zero disciplinary incidents in 18 months
- Became peer mentor for 5 younger students
- Improved family relationships
“Mr. Johnson taught me that my anger was really pain. Now I help other kids understand their feelings too.”
— DeShawn, Age 16
A Mother's Perspective
As a single mother of three working full-time, I worried constantly about my kids being home alone after school. Every Child's Village gave them a safe place to be, with homework help and activities. My oldest daughter is now in college, my son made the basketball team, and my youngest loves reading. This program changed our family's trajectory.
Key Outcomes:
- All three children thriving academically
- Reduced parental stress
- Strong family bonds
“They didn't just help my kids—they helped our whole family.”
— Mrs. Williams, Parent
